As a golfer, I’m constantly looking for unique and luxurious destinations to visit that also offer great golf experiences. I love Mexico and think Cozumel, a small island off the coast near Cancun, is one of the most beautiful spots to vacation.
The InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort & Spa is sponsoring the 5th Annual International Cozumel Island Golf Tournament, providing a competitive day of golf for island visitors. For golfers looking for a tropical vacation, combined with the competition of a golf tournament, it’s a great time to visit this beautiful place.
The 5th Annual International Cozumel Island Golf Tournament was held May 4, 2013 at the Cozumel Country Club in Cozumel, Mexico.
Only steps from the deep blue Caribbean Sea and the world’s second largest coral reef system, the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa is a great place to spend some time. I’ve yet to visit the resort, but numerous friends have been there and every one always reports back the same, amazing experience. The resort has a range of rooms and suites and delivers a luxury vacation experience with the personal service and attention I find in every InterContinental property I visit.
As a beach-side resort in one of the world’s best underwater destinations, the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa has a full snorkel and PADI Gold Palm 5 Star scuba program. They also offer a range of fun activities from submarine rides to ATV jungle tours. The hotel’s Mandara Spa offers all the treatments a tired golfer may need and the resorts range of fine dining experiences provide all the fuel needed for a strong day on the course. I’ve heard especially great things about the resort’s ocean-view Italian restaurant, Alfredo di Roma, featuring Northern Italian cuisine and what’s billed as the largest wine cellar on Cozumel.
The Cozumel Country Club was designed by the Nicklaus Design Group and really works in harmony with the beautiful natural surroundings. The 18-hole, 6,734 yard course is also open to the public and offers a $99 package including club rental on Sundays.
For a golfer sharing a room with a non-golfer, the tournament fee is $525.00. This includes two nights accommodations (for two) at the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa as well as the tournament greens fee and shared cart. A welcome cocktail and beverages on the course are included, as is the awards dinner. Activities for non-golfers are provided and players get a discount at the resort spa. Additional room nights are $179.00 for visitors wishing to stay longer
