I just returned from an epic luxury excursion to London where I had the opportunity to experience what is truly one of the world’s greatest hotels.

The Dorchester sits proudly on Park Lane in London’s trendy Mayfair district, overlooking the green of Hyde Park. A short stroll from Buckingham Palace, the hotel is also across the street from its sister property, 45 Park Lane.

Any hotel can have expensive surroundings and furnishings but it’s the people that separate the good properties from the iconic ones. The Dorchester’s people are sensational, from the doormen to the housekeeping staff, from the concierges to the restaurant servers, everyone is focused on one thing, guest satisfaction. It leads to what I call royal service, service you would expect the Queen to receive, and it’s wonderful to experience.

I stayed a week in one of the hotel’s Dorchester Suites, overlooking the park. I dined at The Grill, had tea in the Promenade and went across to 45 Park Lane to dine at Wolfgang Puck’s CUT. More posts to come on each great experience and my visits to London’s great museums like the British Museum and the Wallace Collection.
