Although I don’t normally drive SUVs (no kids or pets), I really enjoyed my time behind the wheel of the 2016 Lexus GX 460. I drove the Luxury edition (there’s a base model and a Premium model) and found it quite wonderful. Big, comfortable leather seats, room for seven people and Lexus’ amazing Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio system; it’s just a great place to spend time, whether driver or passenger and whether going down the street or across the country. Stay tuned for my thorough review coming next week on the Business Traveler website.

I drove the GX 460 for a getaway to Palm Springs and even did a little off-roading. While a plush Lexus on the inside, this is still a hardcore Toyota 4 X 4 underneath. It’s got a 32-valve V8 engine, full-time 4WD and a Torsen limited slip diff with electronic locking. It’s also got ride height adjustment and CRAWL control which is like cruise control for driving up or down mountains.
