Hong Kong is a city that certainly knows and understands luxury and Cathay Pacific’s First Class lounge at The Pier, represents it beautifully. Offering a bespoke experience for premium passengers at HKG, the expansive, newly redesigned lounge provides a private club-like feel. Divided into distinctive spaces, The Bar is a stylish place to relax and have a drink before a flight, The Retreat is the in-house spa, complete with a now-famous foot massage. The massage services are provided by Hong Kong’s Gentlemen’s Tonic, a wonderfully British men’s grooming brand offering services as they do at their Mayfair location in London (and six other locations around the world).
Food is served in two areas, The Dining Room with table service and The Pantry, an area with beautifully arranged snacks, food and drinks. The entire lounge is managed by the company that owns The Peninsula hotels to the same high standard found in each of their luxury properties. The Dining Room menu had a nice range of Western and Eastern dishes, offered as starters, mains, signature noodles and sweets. The wine list was also especially nice with champagnes from Veuve Cliquot and Moet & Chandon, and a few really good French red wines (amongst others from Italy and Australia).
With extensive room to relax, work, eat or entertain yourself, the lounge is the perfect place to spend a few hours before a flight. For napping, there is a row of eight Day Suites with small daybeds and views over the runway. You can also work privately in these comfortable spaces. For serious work, there is The Bureau, six work suites, complete with Mac computers. The entire lounge features high speed WiFi. The other parts of the space are reading and relaxation areas, a good mix of group and individual spaces. There is also a row of shower rooms.
The First Class lounge at The Pier at HKG is located after security in Terminal 1 on level 6, near gate 63.
